Here's the 6th Grade collection in all of its glory. In addition to Dante Robinson, I drew three other comics. Stuville, starring exclusively stick people, Enjoy, a monotonous tell the same joke over and over comic, and David's Life, which starred me and my friends.
From what I can remember, I'm missing a few Dante Robinson comics. I'm missing Dante's bio and Douglas's bio, one where Douglas and Dante cut Murve's hair, and a comic where a weird guy named Captain Yucko sucks Dante, Douglas, and Murve into a Gauntlet-like video game.
It looks like I'm missing a Stuville comic where all of Stuville sang a beautiful song in perfect harmony and then something horrible happened to all of them.
I only wrote three Enjoy comics and it looks like I lost one entitled "Yum" (it wasn't funny anyway).
I have a few of my David's Life comics, but I'm not going to upload them here. It's mostly just unfunny inside jokes.
These were drawn on loose leaf paper, printer paper, and drawing paper; and they've been sitting bent and crumpled in a folder for the past 18 years, but they scanned pretty good. Probably because they weren't read that much. They're significantly worse than my 7th grade output.
Up first are the Dante, Douglas, & Murve comics...
01 - Can't Get A Nuf Dante
Some simple comics featuring the always hungry Dante Robinson. The "I'm from Dublin" comic was a 5th grade redo.
02 - Timmy Gyro
A lot of characters introduced in this comic. You've got Murve's brother Mauve, Ricky Johnson and his little brother, an English speaking Pablo Sanchez, and of course, Timmy Gyro. My mom didn't like me making fun of fat people, and Timmy's personality was pretty one-dimensional, so he was relegated to a background character role for the rest of the series.
It's also the first comic where Douglas has some character. A petty, neurotic, short-tempered, wiener.
Murve speaks pretty intelligibly in this comic. Still needed to work on him...
03 - A Long Time Ago
They're supposed to be speaking in European accents. Bob and Larry from Veggie Tales are on Murve's ball.
04 - The Birds
Another 5th grade remake. The fat bird that sprays crap on people became a running gag. The guy who shoots the birds and wheelies into the sunset in his monster truck is J.H., a character drawn by Krienke Award creator BK. He was also drawing comics called Bartman, which starred J.H., Lil Kid, Disco Cone, John (his version of Dante Robinson), and Hank Hill. I carried his comics around with me for many years, but gave them back to him a few years ago. I wish I could have scanned them.
On another note, Murve's last name apparently used to be Chihuahua. I totally forgot about that.
05 - Crayons
A basic gag. It was around this time I started drawing Stuville, which was a better outlet for goofy slapstick shenanigans.
06 - Dante Highjacks a Car
This was me attempting to rip-off my friend BK's style that he used in his Bartman comics. I think I was trying to appeal to his humor, but as you can see, he only gave me 6 out of 10. I stopped ripping people off after this.
06 - Scavenger Hunt
One of my more beloved comics, I re-did it again in 7th grade. This is the first time Murve shows off his flying ability.
07 - Halloween Special I
It's crazy that 17 years later, Spongebob Squarepants is still on television.
08 - Interest Fair
I re-did this comic in 7th grade. Rickey starts turning from background character, to character with one dimension (he's smart).
09 - Comic Appreciation Day
At this time, there were about 4 of us actively drawing comics. I coined Comic Appreciation Day for two reasons. 1) To show appreciation towards our supporting characters, and 2) To show appreciation towards one-another as fellow comic writers by writing one-another a comic. This comic satisfied reason 1. It showcased Douglas, Stu Q, and the car guy from Enjoy. Murve was also showcased, but little did I know, he was about to steal the comic from Dante...
10 - Murve Joins the Army
I think this comic singlehandedly killed Dante Robinson comics, Stuville comics, and Enjoy. I could put Murve in any situation and people liked him more than any of my other characters.
For some reason, I re-did this one in 7th grade. It was written through stream of consciousness.
12 - Murve Bio
I wrote a bio page for Dante and Douglas too, but I lost them.
13 - Murve in Star Land
Another goofy stream of consciousness comic. I remember drawing this one in my bedroom.
14 - A Killing Comic
I drew this one in my bedroom too. I remember being angry when I started drawing it, and fine by the time I was done. You can watch the panels turn progressively less violent and progressively more goofy. I never brought this one to school.
15 - A Nudey Comic
I never brought this one to school either. I like the lovingly crafted detail on Captain Yucko's butt at the end. I'm not positive when this one was drawn. Seeing that Dante has transitioned to Divad and Rickey has transitioned to Robby, it might have been in 7th grade. This was re-done in a more school appropriate manner for Season 3.
16 - Downtown Peoplesville
Peoplesville is where the Dante/Murve/Douglas comics take place.
Up next is the very dumb and slapstick-filled Stuville...
01 - Car Dealership Stus
Well, it's goofy. I forgot that Stu Q was Stu S's brother.
02 - Garbage Stus
A simple gag.
03 - Zoo Stus
All of my most beloved comics are "The Gang goes [Insert Place Here]". The panel with the elephant crapping made a lot people laugh.
04 - Stu Q Dies
I like the headstone gag.
05 - Tires Done Stu Style
I believe the Stu in the heading is yelling, "You Boozehound!"
06 - Fair Stus
Can you tell who the lady's children are supposed to be? The character who is about to get crushed by an anvil is Stu C. His whole thing is that he gets hurt a lot. Now you know.
07 - College Stus
Each year my homework load got bigger and bigger, so I assumed college would be the worst of all. It probably wasn't as bad as Junior High.
08 - Computer Stus
D.R. was my most intellectual friend, and therefore didn't like Stuville very much.
W.H. first introduced me to the website Newgrounds, and therefore also liked Stuville.
09 - Diet Stus
The only Stuville comic where nothing bad happens.
10 - Poopy Stus
The elephant from Zoo Stus makes his second appearance doing what he does best.
11 - Railroad Stus
Stu C's first leading role.
12 - Emergency Stus
I think I ripped this joke off of an old cartoon.
13 - School Bus Stus
A familiar gag.
14 - A War Comic: In the Human Body
A random drawing.
15 - Chef Stus
It amused me that Vaseline was also called petroleum jelly. YOU CAN'T EAT IT!
16 - A Big Huge Killing Comic
A mostly Stu-themed killing comic. The baby shooting Sideshow Bob was some sort of inside joke I had with another friend. Poor Douglas got decapitated!
17 - The People
A Simpsons tribute.
All right, last and definitely least, Enjoy Comics.
Enjoy - Wow!
Boy that's funny. I also made one titled "Yum". You can probably imagine the plot.
Enjoy - Yuck!
All right, that's it!
